Upcoming Zoey Training Academy  Classes: Canine Good Citizen Test: Thursday May 10th @ 6:30pm   $10 (open to anyone)       The following list is the exercises your dog needs to successfullly  accomplish to pass the test:  * accepts a friendly stranger. * sitting politely for petting * accepts basic grooming techniques. * loose leash walking. * walking through a crowd. * sit, down and stay in place. * coming when called. * reaction to another dog. * reaction to distractions. * supervised separation from owner.      If you are planning on taking the test PLEASE practice the  above skills with your dog to SET HIM UP FOR SUCCESS! Basic Dog Obedience course: Starts Tuesday May 29th @ 6:30pm. First class  is WITHOUT DOGS. 7 week course for $125.00 ($25.00  deposit).  Outdoor Intermedate Dog Obedience Class: Starts Saturday June  9th @4pm. 7 week course, going to a different location each week. First class is  at Zoey Girl Pet Services, 185  Boston Post Rd Orange, CT 06477, WITH DOGS. $150 for  all 7 weeks or $30 per class. ($30.00 deposit). Coming soon: Drill Team  Class. Potential starting date Thursday May 17th @ 6:30pm. 8 Week course. Price  TBA.   CANINE CLUB CARDS! Zoey Girl 2nd Anniversary Special

Hey Everyone!

 
     Spring is just around the corner!  Hallelujah!  We can thank God it wasn’t anything like last winter and look forward to it waming up soon.  Hope all is well with everyone.  Well, it doesn’t seem possible but April will be our second anniversary here at 185 Boston Post Road.  Wow, time is just zipping by!  We are blessed to have all of you as our established clients and to be in this great location where new clients are continually finding us. 
 
     The best way that we get our new clients is when all of you refer your friends to us.  That’s why we are running a special for the next two months (March and April) that anyone who refers a friend who brings their canine buddy to us for a groom will receive 50% OFF of their next groom (discount will apply after the friend’s appointment.)  So share your dog’s favorite grooming spa with your friends and his canine friends will get a chance to experience what he has been raving about (and you’ll save a lot of your hard earned money in the process!)  Now that’s a deal you have to think about!!
 
     Due to the overwhelming response to our Valentine’s day special last month, we will also for the months of March and April offer $5.00 OFF of our “Day at the Spa” package.  With the onset of Spring also comes the flea return so it is a great deal to get this package because it includes a FLEA BATH (a $10.00 value) at no additional charge!
 
     Congratulations to all of the graduates of Zoey Training Academy this week!   
Hope you all had as much fun as we did.  Our next basic class will be begin on Tuesday night, March 20th from 6:30 to 7:30PM.  The intermediate class will be on Thursday night, March 22nd from 6:30 to 7:30PM.  There are still two spots left in each class.  Anyone who would like to attend, please contact me ASAP.  The cost is $125.00 for seven weeks (payment plan can be worked out)  The first night will be for HUMANS ONLY as we will discuss in detail the content of the course and what you want to get out of the class.
 
     We still have room for one small dog for doggy daycare here at the shop on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday or Friday.  Any or all of those days are open from 9AM until 5PM.  Pick up and delivery are available at your request..  Also, our dog walker is available for additional appointments during the day.  Call me if interested and I will put you in touch with him to discuss the time schedule.  Just a reminder, if you are going away and need pet sitting PLEASE let me know a couple of weeks in advance or as soon as you can so we can schedule it in!!
 
     We thank all of you for sharing your canine loved ones with us.  Their unconditional love blesses us every day.  No doubt we have THE BEST dogs (and humans) in the business.  There’s nothing we’d rather be doing than this!!

     BECAUSE OF THE POST ROAD IS AN EXTREMELY BUSY ROAD WHICH HAS CONSTANT NON STOP TRAFFIC, FROM NOW ON NO DOG WIILL BE ADMITTED INTO ZOEY GIRL PET SERVICES WITHOUT A LEASH!!  ALL DOGS MUST BE LEASHED ON THEIR WALK FROM THE CAR TO OUR FRONT DOOR AND BACK TO THE CAR. PLEASE ALSO MAKE SURE THE LEASH, COLLAR, HARNESS, ETC  FIT RIGHT AND ARE NOT LOOSE ON THE DOG. THERE WILL BE NO EXCEPTIONS TO THIS RULE.  WE WILL REFUSE TO SERVICE TO ANY UNLEASHED DOG.

P.S. If you have a dog that likes to slip out of their collar or harness Premier collars or Martingale collars are the best alternative to keeping them safe. We sell Premier collars at our shop and Martingale collars are easy to find online.

Novemeber Special

Thanksgiving greetings to all!
 
     For the month of November we are offering a complementary CONDITIONER BATH with every groom or bath (except the #1 Spa Essentials).  Please call early to schedule your holiday appointments as we are filling up fast!  As an incentive to all to schedule appointments in advance, we are offering a FREE GROOM for everyone that schedules their next five grooms NOW (sixth groom is on us)!  We will contact you the day before with a reminder call if you need one.
 
     We would like to deeply thank all of you for your overwhelming generosity in support of Fritz, the service dog who needed surgery for a torn ACL.  Upon further evaluation from the surgeon, he found that Fritz also has degenerative arthritis and is NOT a candidate for the surgery.  This is because the procedure would not alleviate his symptoms and pain.  Instead, Fritz will have to take arthritis medication for the remainder of his life.  In light of these new developments, we at Zoey Girl have decided to assist Fritz’ owner in two ways.  First of all we will help her with the cost of Fritz’ medication.  We will also explore every avenue available to us to find her a new service dog who can also be a companion to Fritz.  We are planning on using the funds originally earmarked for the surgery to accomplish this purpose.  IF YOU WOULD LIKE A REFUND OF THE CONTRIBUTION YOU MADE FOR THE SURGERY, WE UNDERSTAND AND WILL HOLD ALL OF THE FUNDS FOR TWO WEEKS BEFORE PROCEEDING TO THE NEXT STEP!
 
     Our Canine Cupboard is open for donations of food, toys, beds, treats or money.  We offer the cupboard to any local shelter or rescue that needs the assistance.  If you know of a rescue in need, please refer them to us!  Thanks in advance for all of your donations!
 
     I really can’t believe how fast this year has breezed by but, believe it or not, it’s the holiday season already!  To celebrate Thanksgiving, Zoey Girl Pet Services will be closed from Wednesday, November 23rd to Sunday, November 27th.  We will resume our normal hours on Monday, November 28th.  We will make ourselves available for early or late appointments the week prior to Thanksgiving to try to accommodate all of you.  Thanks for your patience and understanding.
 
     Finally, sometime in early December (to be announced soon) we will be having a Christmas gathering and an open house for all of our clients to get a look at our newly remodeled Grooming Spa.  We are excited that we will be able to better serve our canine clients in the new set up.  The project is actually running ahead of schedule and we should be completely done soon.  We couldn’t have done it without all of you, our faithful customers!  So keep an eye out for the invite to the gathering.  We’re planning a ribbon cutting ceremony, plenty of good food, raffles and fun.  It will be a real blessing to be able to socialize a bit with all of you!

URGENT NEED!!!

Fritz is a 9 year old boxer who just recently became a service dog for his disabled owner. He has a torn ACL and needs surgery. This surgery is costly and his owner can not afford the cost.  Zoey Girl Pet Services has decided to sponsor Fritz and Milford Animal Hospital will do everything they can to accommodate us with the payment arrangements. We need to raise a total of $1500.00 for the surgery and rehab so he can get back to doing his job as service dog again. Please give as your heart sees fit and pass this on to anyone you may know who would like to support this worthy cause!!

Dog For Adoption

M J is a dalamtion mix around 60lbs. He is good with other dogs, cats, he pretty much gets along with alot of animals because he currently lives on a farm. The owner has  a new job and his hours are long so he can no longer keep M J.  He is around 5 years old. Ct Sales tax on Pet Groom and Training July 1st 2011

Greetings everyone!

 
     Hope the warmer weather is a blessing to all and your Summer will be special!
 
     There are a couple pieces of business we need to pass by everyone at this time.  First of all, the CT State General Assembly recently changed the tax code to include Pet Grooming and Training in the state’s taxable services.  They have also raised the state sales tax from 6% to 6.35%.  Effective on July 1, 2011, Zoey Girl Pet Services will be adding 6.35% sales tax to all services.
 
     Also, because of the increasing costs of our grooming and pet supplies, we at Zoey Girl Pet Services are forced to increase the cost of our grooming packages by $5.00 for each weight class. (Please see revised Fee Schedule attached.)  To offset the increase in cost, by popular demand, we will be adding TOOTH BRUSHING (a $5.00 value) to all of our grooming packages, Spa Basic and above.  We will continue to offer our money-saving specials each month and our $5.00 bonus when you refer someone to us.  Also, we are always open to payment arrangements for those times your canine buddy needs grooming and you’re a bit short for the month!  It’s all about the dogs…and their humans too!!
 
     Don’t forget to take advantage of the FREE FLEA AND TICK bath we are offering for the rest of June and all of July.  The Fourth of July weekend is almost here so BOOK NOW so you could be assured to have a sparkling clean canine who looks good, smells good and feels good when your company comes!

Dog Walking in Orange, CT & Surrounding Areas

Zoey Girl Pet Services is now offering dog walking services. We service Orange, Milford, West Haven, parts of Woodbridge and New Haven, CT

Dog Walking

  • $20 for a half hour walk per visit
  • $30 for an hour walk per visit
  • $5 for an additional dog

The time starts when the pet sitter enters the house and ends when pet sitter leaves the house.

Greetings again for a new month!   
 
     In Celebration of our Rocky’s 13th Birthday, We Officially Proclaim
February and March to be:

     Zoey Girl Pet Services will offer FREE TEETH BRUSHING* for every Spa Basic or better Groom or Bath during the Months of February and March!
     We will also be introducing “Doggie Sweet Breath” so your favorite furry friend will smell fresh and sweet while kissing his favorite person!
 
*Any Premium Extra Listed On Our Fee Schedule May Be Substituted For Teeth Brushing.
 
     Dog Obedience Classes are being held at our facility in Orange, CT, starting on Tuesday night, February 15th and running for eight weeks.  Both Doggie Basic and Intermediate classes will be running simultaniously.  The Milford Adult Education classes will be held on Saturday mornings starting March 17th at Foran High School in Milford, CT, also running for 8 weeks.  The Orange classes are already filled but we are considering adding another class due to additional interest.  The Milford classes are currently enrolling.  Please contact Christa at 203-606-9220 for further info NOW to enroll!!
 
     We are in the process of developing a Dog Walking  and a Pick-up and Delivery service and we need to get an idea on the demand for these services.  Please contact us either by email or call us at 203-606-9220 to let us know if either of these services would benefit you. We will arrange a discount for the service you need if you respond to our inquiry.  We very much appreciate your feedback!
 
     One more piece of Good News!  Zoey Girl Pet Services has room for two small dogs to add to our Doggie Day Care.  The owner must need daycare for at least 4 days a week and could pick the days from Monday through Saturday.  They also must be able to deliver their dogs to the Orange facility at 8:30AM or later, and pick them up no later than 5:30PM.  (We will let you know when we have the pick-up and delivery service that will be offered for an additional fee).  Please let us know if you would like to take advantage of this opportunity.  We will give a discount to the owner who has two small dogs to enroll! 
 
     That’s it for now.  Be sure to let us know if you know of someone (even you) whose four legged friend really needs grooming but because of financial circumstances REALLY can’t afford it now.  We will offer our services FREE to one owner a month.  Also, if you know someone who has rescued a dog recently who needs a groom badly, HAVE THEM CONTACT US!  It’s all about the dogs (and the owners too)!  We truely enjoy serving those in need.
